Yèinou Avognon

Yèinou Avognon was discovered during a workshop at the Schauspielhaus Zürich, where their talent and presence quickly secured them as recurring guest alongside the core ensemble. Since then, they have appeared in six major stage productions, often taking on lead or co-lead roles on the main stage.

In 2024, they shot their first film as the lead in A Simple Drama, the first feature film by Polish director Wero Rodowicz. The film is supported by Swiss Films and has been selected for the Coming Soon section at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. In the role, Yèinou performs in American English, French, and German—demonstrating not only their impressive linguistic abilities but also their emotional range and screen presence.

Following the film’s completion, they were accepted into the highly competitive drama program at the University of the Arts (UDK) in Berlin. They are currently performing as “Mariam” in Robin Hood at the Schauspielhaus Zürich.

Yèinou’s artistic foundation is deeply rooted in music. Between the ages of 14 and 17, they attended a music-focused high school and trained in chamber music as a cellist. For the past four years, they have been a singer in a rock band, which won the “M for Music Prize” in the Rock category in 2024.

Of Swiss and Beninese heritage, Yèinou brings a rich, multicultural perspective to their work on both stage and screen.
